Join the fight to defend higher education!

FOMPAC depends on contributions large and small from citizens who understand the importance of community colleges.

The Friends of Maricopa (FOMPAC) is a non-partisan, non-ideological organization committed to supporting the Maricopa Community Colleges' ongoing mission to provide high-quality post-secondary education in support of the social and economic development of Maricopa County and the state of Arizona.

A strong community college system is essential to growth and economic development.  A strong community college system requires active and ongoing support from citizens.
FOMPAC is committed to fighting for a non-partisan governing board that puts teaching and learning first in all its decisions.  We support bond issues and Governing Board candidates that support the Maricopa Community Colleges.

FOMPAC is an independent political action committee and is not associated with the Maricopa County Community College District.

Our Values

Providing an affordable, high-quality education for students of Maricopa County

Community colleges serve the needs of many in our community, whether it is though job training, continuing education, certificates, associate degrees, or transfer credits to a 4 year college.

Breaking down economic barriers to help students further their educational goals

We support all students who want to get a quality education, whether that is through scholarships, sponsorships, financial aid, or grants. To learn about what Maricopa Community Colleges faculty are doing to help, click here.

We also believe that restoration of state funding to the community college system is essential to keeping tuition costs down for students. State funding of the Maricopa Community College system in 2009 was $59 million. Current state funding for the Maricopa Community Colleges system is $0. Students and property owners bear the cost of these cuts.

Investing in students' future economic success through the Maricopa Community Colleges

The Maricopa Community Colleges system powers economic growth of Maricopa County. Graduates from the Maricopa Community College system are our future mechanics, electricians, nurses, and dental assistants, while students who transfer to 4 year institution become our future doctors, accountants, business owners, engineers, teachers, and analysts. There are hundreds of different careers possibilities, and they all begin through an investment in the community college system.

Shared responsibility through shared governance

We believe that faculty, staff, and administration at the Maricopa Community Colleges should work collaboratively in a climate of mutual respect. Doing so advances the goals of our educational institution - supporting students in their educational goals to new opportunities and a better life. With true shared governance, the collective wisdom gained from these different perspectives are included and incorporated into a shared vision of the community college mission and its operations that benefits students.
