Location for position will be Mt Pleasant or Lansing, MI.
Charter Schools. Responsible for overseeing the University's oversight activities associated with charter contract compliance and enforcement in the area of public school accounting and finance, including reviews of audited financial statements, quarterly financial statements, budgets and amended budgets. Perform high level review of Individualized Performance Reviews as it relates to each school's financial performance. Set standards and review financial aspects of global processes. Supervise staff. Oversee responsibilities associated with Educational Service Provider Policies and agreements. Oversee state aid intercept agreement process as it relates to the University's role as fiscal agent. Oversee charter schools' compliance with insurance requirements. Oversee lease reviews.
Represent the University on state level committees. Required qualifications include bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting or finance; three years professional experience, including working with financial statements, budgets, capital financing options, business plans, etc. Supervisory experience; strong knowledge of governmental accounting standards; ability to assist in the management of multiple assignments while balancing competing priorities with attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; working knowledge of MS-office and/or other software programs; ability to project positive image; must be willing to travel as needed.
Desired qualifications include CPA certification; knowledge of charter schools/public education; auditing experience; master's degree in related field. Wage rate: Commensurate with qualifications. Hours: Monday-Friday, (8:00am-5:00pm; nights/ weekends as necessary).
